Boizel Champagne
The Champagne Manufacturer Boizel was founded in 1834 in Epernay. Its cuvée is the Joyau de France.
Boizel belongs to Boizel Chanoine Champagne.
Champagne Boizel was founded in 1834 by Auguste and Marie Boizel. In 1860, their son Edouard had huge cellars dug out of the chalk cliffs of Mount Bernon and built a wine store, offices and the family home above them. He was a dynamic man who increased sales of his products abroad, maintaining close links with the large English company Hedges & Butler, founded in 1667, which was to remain the agent of Boizel for over 100 years. But the war and expropriations did not spare Boizel and in 1945 only the cellars remained of Boizel. In 1972, after first the son and then the father died, Christophe, the husband of Evelyne, joined the company as general manager under the chairmanship of Erica. In 1984, Evelyne Roques-Boizel followed her mother as CEO. In 1994, Paillard Baijot Investments took a stake in the company and saved Boizel from liquidity problems. The Roques-Boizel family had wisely retained approximately 45% of the shares. This enabled an equal partnership when Boizel Chanoine Champagne replaced Paillard Baijot Investments as investor. Evelyne Roques-Boizel is still managing the Champagne House Boizel in the fifth generation.
