Larmandier-Bernier Champagne
Larmandier-Bernier Champagne
THE CHAMPAGNE PRODUCER LARMANDIER-BERNIER WAS FOUNDED IN 1956 IN VERTUS. HIS CUVÉE IS VIEILLE VIGNE DE CRAMANT.
LARMANDIER-BERNIER IS AN INDEPENDENT FAMILY BUSINESS.
Larmandier-Bernier is a champagne house. The Larmandiers work in their own vineyards, unlike almost all the big houses that buy most of their grapes. The grapes are almost exclusively Chardonnay from 1er Cru and Grand Cru sites in the "Côte des Blancs". Larmandier-Bernier tends the vineyards according to biodynamic principles. The recipes are simple: old vines, low yields, hand harvesting at optimal ripening time. In the cellar, aging takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks and small oak barrels, where individual sites/parcels are aged separately. Fermentation is carried out with spontaneous yeasts, which are part of the respective terroir. Depending on the quality, the wines are stored for at least 3-8 years before they are disgorged, the dosage is generally very low, in the case of Terre de Vertus it is dispensed with completely. In general, the dosage is adapted to the conditions of the vintage. According to the Chardonnay variety, the wines are full of freshness, creaminess, juiciness and aromatic density. What stands out is the perfect balance in all the wines and the wonderful persistence. The wines are open, with a wonderful balance between fruity and floral notes. But this is at prices that are more than fair and moderate. Larmandier-Bernier makes Champagne at the highest level. Evidence of this are various international awards such as: in the "Classement des Meilleurs Vins de France 2000", in the Guide "Revue du Vin de France" by Michel Bettane Larmandier-Bernier receives its 2nd star (only about 10 wineries have this distinction), 4 stars in the Guide Gault Millau 2004 and many other international articles and successes in various tastings.
